JANUARY 10th MEETING

At our meeting in January, we will be joined by our local quilt teacher-author LINDA J. HAHN. Linda's lecture last year, "Stashbashers", was very well received and inspired us to use up all those scraps in our closets. Linda's last book, Insider's Guide to Quilting Careers (written with Merry May), included interviews and tips from many people who have taken the next step to getting paid for doing what they love. Linda will be sharing some of this information with us this month in her lecture "Don't Quit Your Day Job".

If you did not complete the pre-lecture questionnaire at last month's meeting, click here to have the questionnaire sent to you by email. Linda will collate the responses and address some of the top questions that guild members have regarding careers in quilting.

Linda MIGHT have copies of her new book, New York Beauty Simplified, which will be released in January. Be the first on the block to own a signed copy! For more information on Linda, visit her website http://www.froghollowdesigns.com/.

Also at the meeting, we will be forming teams for February's Charity Race, and welcoming our new officers.

For the meeting, please remember:
BLOCK OF THE MONTH - Let's start out the year with many participants - maybe this will be your month to win...
CHARITY - Any completed blocks, quilt tops, or completed quilts, as well as fabric and batting donations, will be happily accepted by our new Charity Chairpeople.  Thanks again to Barbara and Kim for a job well done last year. We gave away a record number of quilts in December, not to mention pillowcases and preemie quilts. Thank you letters were read at last month's meeting for some of the donations already delivered.
TEDDY BEAR CLOTHES - More teddy bears should be available in March or April, but bring the clothes in the meantime and we'll dress them when they arrive! We dressed all the bears we were given this year for Family and Children's Services of Monmouth County to deliver at Christmas.
NON-PERISHABLE FOOD DONATIONS - Any items donated will go to Samaritan Center as usual. Winter is a difficult time of year, as donations generally fall off after the holidays.
FAT QUARTER SWAP - Don't forget to bring your Fat Quarter for the swap. Participation was very low last year - let's try to remember from now on. This month's color is: YELLOW. For the full list of Fat Quarter Colors for the year, click here.
DOOR PRIZES - We are returning to the previous year's method of bringing Door Prizes each month when we sign up. Don't forget that signing up for setup/cleanup/refreshments/doorprize at least once a year is required of all members. Of course you may sign up for any month you choose, but a suggestion was made that choosing your birthday month will help you remember!
SHOW AND TELL - Bring something to share, whether it's a completed quilt or a work in progress!
